Gio Lopez transferring: 5 landing spots for elite Group of 5 QB
MOBILE, Ala. (BVM) – South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez was one of the best Group-of-5 signal callers in 2024. The redshirt freshman threw for 2,559 yards, 18 touchdowns and only five interceptions. Lopez led the Jaguars to a bowl game victory in head coach Major Applewhite’s first season with the program.
Lopez is planning on entering the NCAA transfer portal when it opens Wednesday and he should be one of the top QBs available in the window.
The Madison, Alabama, native has three years of eligibility remaining and is capable of being a multiyear starter for a winning program in a power conference. These schools could show the most interest throughout his recruitment.
