9.Barry Bennett, DT, North St. Paul

Bennett attended school at North St. Paul High School, where he thrived as a wrestler and football player. His success led him to Concordia College where he won three wrestling championships and also played football for the Cobbers. The St. Paul native got drafted in the third round of the 1978 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Bennett played four seasons for the Saints as a defensive tackle before joining the New York Jets. As a Jet, Bennett helped the team to three playoff appearances during the 1980s. He also finished fifth in the league in fumble recoveries with four in 1984. Bennett would finish his 11year career with his hometown team, the Minnesota Vikings. He had 23.5 sacks during his NFL career.
