Top 10 Alabama Crimson Tide players of all time
7. Ozzie Newsome (1974-77)
Known now for his front office role with the Baltimore Ravens, Newsome was a dominant force for the Crimson Tide in the mid 1970s. The 6-foot-2 pass catcher posted over 2,000 receiving yards in his four-year career with the Crimson Tide, highlighted by an All-American senior season in 1977 in which he caught 36 passes for 804 yards and four touchdowns. His 2,070 career receiving yards are eighth all time in Bama program history, and the “Wizard of Oz” is the only receiver in the top 10 of that list to not play in the more pass-happy era of the 2000s. The College Football Hall of Famer went on to become a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 1978 and has two Super Bowl titles on his resume as a front office member of the Ravens.
