Many famous NFL stars once started their gridiron journeys on fields in the Commonwealth whether that be the Barber brothers, Michael Vick, Duane Brown or a plethora of others, talented football players have always been found in Virginia.
Some of these players have risen to the top of the heap over the past 23 years. Here are the top 10 highest-rated Virginia high school football players since 2000 — which 247Sports determined as athletes from the Class of 2000 through the Class of 2022.
The order of this list is determined by 247Sports’ Composite Rating – “a proprietary algorithm that compiles prospect ‘rankings’ and ‘ratings’ listed in the public domain by the major media recruiting services. It converts average industry ranks and ratings into a linear composite index capping at 1.0000.”
A player rating of 1.0000 indicates that the high school athlete was ranked as a No. 1 prospect across all services.
