Pete Alonso to be shopped?: 5 possible landing spots
Milwaukee Brewers
The trade: The Brewers acquire Alonso. The Mets acquire Luis Lara and Cooper Pratt
Rhys Hoskins has been fantastic for the Brewers with a .831 OPS this season. Maybe that is enough for Milwaukee to want to acquire another slugger from the NL East. It has had many standouts in its lineup, and a player like Alonso would only deepen it. The Brewers currently hold a seven-game lead in the division, but if they really want a chance to contend for a championship this season, they should not shy away from being aggressive at the trade deadline.
Lara is listed as Milwaukee’s No. 7 prospect, but he could be one of the more valuable players the Mets could land for Alonso. He is still 19 years old and has five-tool potential. The outfielder is only slugging .310 for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2024, but there is expected to be more power to come as he matures. Pratt was the team’s sixth-round pick in the most recent draft. He is an interesting infield prospect who excelled in rookie ball last season.
