Top 5 Ohio State offensive coordinator candidates for 2025
Jeff Nixon
Day and the Buckeyes seem to value NFL experience within their coaching staff and Nixon would bring that to Columbus. Nixon spent several years coaching at the collegiate level before becoming an assistant under Andy Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007. Nixon was also a running backs coach for the Miami Dolphins and a tight ends coach for the San Francisco 49ers in 2016, working alongside Day as part of Kelly’s staff. More recently, Nixon was a running backs coach for the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants. In 2024, he returned to the college ranks as offensive coordinator at Syracuse, helping former Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord set an ACC single-season passing record for the seventh-ranked offense in the country. The 50-year-old’s experience and proven success could make him an upside hire for Day.
